Administration Officer / Receptionist
B.FN (in progress)
Towards the end of High School, I was asked to make a lot of big decisions and apply for University courses that I wouldn’t mind studying. I wasn’t a fan of this process though, as I had no idea what career I wanted to pursue. I ended up going to JCU to study a Degree in Photo Media as I had an interest in photography. It didn’t take me very long however to realise that this wasn’t what I wanted to do with my life, so I withdrew from my degree and decided to obtain a full-time job.
I worked at Live-N-Invest Real Estate for just under two years as a receptionist/admin assistant/sales support and loved it. I was offered to be put through the necessary training to become either a Property Manager or Sales Agent through the company if I wished to do so. I was very appreciative, however I felt deep down that I wasn’t the right person for those jobs. Realising that I didn’t want to progress any further in Real Estate put a lot of things into perspective for me. I decided to leave my job and take some time for myself to have a long, hard think about what my interests were and how I could turn them into a career.
This then led me to Be Psyched and their brilliant Career Program which I completed with Alexandra Whitehead. I found this program and career coaching to be very eye-opening and extremely helpful in allowing myself to have a better and deeper understanding of the person I am and what careers would be best suited to my personality.
A little while after doing the program I’d found a new love for having a balanced, active and healthy lifestyle. I thoroughly enjoy exercising and thrive on creating/eating delicious and healthy (most of the time) meals. This new interest matches up well with aspects of my personality, so I decided that I would love to learn more about nutrition and make a career out of it. I applied to OUA (Open Universities Australia) to study a Bachelor of Food and Nutrition externally through La Trobe University. I was accepted into the course and hope that at the end of my degree I become a qualified Dietician, as I’d love to help change people’s lives and their attitude towards food. In the future, my dream is to bring out my own healthy recipe books so that I can share my passion for nutrition and cooking with others.
After being accepted into my course, I started actively looking for a part time job so that I could learn and earn at the same time. Funnily enough, the opportunity to work for Be Psyched arose and I never looked back. The employees here are all so wonderful and supportive, not just with their clients but with each other as well. I am beyond grateful to be a part of this team and am extremely excited to see what the future holds.
